WHERE TO GET INFORMATION:

The Zagreb Tourist Information Office on Trg bana Jelačića, together with the most museums and hotel s, has a selection of tourist information booklets and guides, many of which are published in several languages. The staff in the Tourist Information Office speak English and can usually answer any questions you may have.

Useful publications include:

  • An A4 size map of Zagreb
  • Detailed street guides can be purchased from the Tourist Information Office or bookshops

 

The following are produced by the Zagreb Tourist Board and are free and well worth acquiring:

Events and Performances. This is the best source of information about what is going on in Zagreb and is published monthly. Available in English.
Zagreb Info A-Z. Contains a wide range of address for everything from shops to cinemas to Embassies to museums; available in English and German
Zagreb, Croatia. Background information about the city; available in English, French, German and Italian.
Zagreb: Museums, Galleries and Collection. Indicates types of collections in museums etc; available in English, French, German and Italian.
Zagreb City Walks. Details two sightseeing walks around the city centre. Very useful to give to your visitors; available in English, French and German.
Zagreb and Surroundings. Some ideas for places to visit outside Zagreb.

The information in the following publications is updated regularly. The following publications are all commercially produced, but are available free from the Tourist Information Office and public places like hotels and some museums:

Zagreb In Your Pocket, available in English, with lots of information about hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, sightseeing, music, theatre, shopping, events, maps, includes an event programme. It is published every 2 months, Website: www.inyourpocket.com
Five Stars Zagreb, available in English, which describes itself as the unofficial upmarket guide to the capital. It is published 4 times a year. Website: www.fivestars.hr
Zagreb Around Midnight gives details of Zagreb`s nightlife, a sister publication to Five Stars Zagreb.

 

ENTERTAINMENT

Programmes: Details of programmes are published in local newspapers and in Events and Performances. You will see posters for special events and performances, including pop concerts, advertised around the city. These will usually include details of where to buy the tickets. Croatian daily newspapers Jutarnji list, Vjesnik and Vecernji list each have a page near the back, with details of what`s on and where. The information is quite easy to interpret. Look under “Vodič” or “Zagreb danas” for the listings under the following headings:

Purchase of tickets: It is normal to buy tickets at the Concert Hall or Theatre or on the website: www.eventim.hr

Season tickets offer very good value for money and are available for concerts at Lisinski Concert Hall, the Music School, the Ilyrian Movement Room and the National Theatre. Application forms and seasons tickets (abonmani) normally become available in June for the season which runs from the following September and you can choose between a number of different concert/performance cycles. Seats, all at the same price, are allocated with your season ticket. You cannot choose where would you like to sit. For more information, contact the Concert Hall or Theatre direct.
